WeMatter from Victim Support

WeMatter is a new digital service designed just for kids and teens ages 8 to 17 who have been affected by domestic abuse.

Through video-based support, WeMatter offers a safe place for young people to talk about their experiences and get the help they need.

This service supports young people impacted by abuse in their family home, or within their parent’s or carer’s relationship.

WeMatter is now be available to young people across England until March 31, 2025. It’s provided by the charity Victim Support.

It’s important to note that WeMatter is not suitable for those who are currently experiencing domestic abuse or who are still living with the person causing the harm.

How it works

WeMatter offers online support for kids and teens through Zoom. It’s safe and confidential.

Specialists use Rockpool’s Domestic Abuse Recovery Toolkit, which is designed for children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.

Here are the details:

  • Format: Group sessions with up to 12 participants.
  • Duration: Runs for eight weeks, with one-hour sessions each week.
  • Activities: Sessions use fun games, discussions, and activities based on trauma-informed cognitive behavior therapy (CBT).
  • Focus: Helping young people understand their experiences, cope with difficult emotions, and learn about healthy relationships.
