Reminder: A New Appointment System From Monday 16th March

We’re less than two weeks away from the launch of our new appointment system, so we wanted to take the opportunity to remind you what’s changing, how it’ll work, and everything else you need to now.

What’s changing?

From Monday 16th March 2026, requests for appointments with all GPs here at Regent Medical Centre need to be submitted online.

You can do this from your phone, tablet or computer rather than calling or visiting us. We want to keep our phone line free purely for urgent requests.

No account or password is needed – but you can use your NHS login (the same details you use on the NHS App) and your details will automatically be added to the form, saving you time.

Your request will be looked at by one of our Doctors, who will decide on the best option for you. We’ll contact you to let you know what that is.

Those options could include:

  • A same day GP appointment
  • A routine GP appointment
  • A GP call back
  • A referral to another team member here at Regent Medical Centre, such as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse, or Practice Pharmacist
  • A referral to another service, like a local Pharmacy

It’s quick and easy to do – and no waiting on the phone. Here’s a quick video guide we’ve made:

Why are we making the change?

Online triage is part of a wider NHS move to improve how GP practices work. Many practices already use this system. It helps us respond more quickly, share work across the whole healthcare team, and make sure urgent problems are dealt with first. This means fewer long waits on the phone, fewer unnecessary trips to the Practice, faster answers, and fairer access for everyone. It also gives you more choice, with care by phone, video, or face-to-face.

Our aim is simple – to make sure you get the right help, from the right person, at the right time. We know it can be frustrating to wait for an appointment. While some problems need to be seen in person, many can be sorted more quickly by phone, video, text, or with support from a trusted service such as a pharmacist or physiotherapist.

What if I can’t get online?

The system is designed to be simple and easy to use, even if you have not used NHS services online before. We encourage everyone to try it.

If you are unable to get online, you can still call the Practice. A member of the Reception team will complete the form for you, so your request is handled in the same way as everyone else’s.

What about Prescriptions?

Please continue to request repeat prescriptions via the NHS App – this is the quickest and easiest way for patients and for the practice.

If you’re unsure how to do this, take a look at our video guide: Prescriptions in the NHS App.

Thank You

We know changes to your healthcare can be unsettling, but we are confident this new approach will make accessing the help you need quicker and easier. Thank you for your patience and support.
